What is Marble?

Marble is a type of naturally occurring stone. Composed of calcium carbonate minerals, this stone is mostly white, although it can also be found in a variety of colors resulting from the combination of different minerals. The fact that marble is durable and can be used for many different purposes is generally used for floor and wall coverings, sculptures, countertops, sinks and bathroom materials, functional and decorative purposes.

However, despite the durability of the marble material, it can be subject to many factors and therefore requires maintenance. Acidic substances and abrasive cleaning agents can damage the marble. Due to its porous structure, marble can get stained and cracks or deterioration may occur due to moisture.

Marble has been used in important structures of history, for example ancient structures such as the Taj Mahal, the Temple of Artemis and the Pantheon. Today, it is also used as a popular material in modern architecture and offers a wide range of colors to adapt to new design trends.
